Delta Dog Safe Program - Trialed and Tested by Sydney UniversityThe Delta Dog Safe™ SA program has been trialed and tested in a randomised controlled trial of an educational intervention program. Written up in the British Medical Journal, the results of the trial spoke for themselves (BMJ 2000;320:1512-1513 (3 June) www.bmj.com . The article fully explains the process of the trial which was conducted by the Department of Public Health, University of Sydney, commissioned by Delta Society Australia Ltd. The results show that the children who had received the intervention education program displayed appreciably greater precautionary behaviour around a dog tied up in the school yard than children in the control schools. "Most of the children in the control group, 79% patted the dog without hesitation and tried to excite it, while only a few 9% of the children who had received the intervention patted the dog, and they did this surreptitiously or after a considerable period of careful assessment only". |
